MUSICAL INFLUENCES

MUSE
What can I possibly say about Muse? I'm already bordering on unhealthy obsession. The band consists of lead vocalist/guitarist Matt Bellamy, drummer Dominic Howard, and the bassist/backing vocalist Christopher Wolstenholme. He even has a cool sounding name! Yeah yeah, "ooohhh they sing about the apocalypse and political uprising too much", I get it. I also don't care. They embody everything that I value: ridiculousness and bombastic creative choices with no fear as they purge onward with them. Above all, Wolstenholme's work just astounds me at every listen. I implore you to give "Eternally Missed" or "Hyper Music" a shot, not to mention bigger hits like "Hysteria."

Paul McCartney
The Mecca, or should I say the Macca (har har)? He made the bass cool, not much more to say — I will anyway though. Strangely enough, my introduction to The Beatles was through Rock Band, and my favourite song was.... Octopus' Garden. I WAS TEN OKAY. Obviously I've matured, thankfully, and have since seen him in concert a total of seven times in five cities. One time Jimmy Fallon even showed up, and he didn't even overreact that much, which is a very not-Jimmy Fallon thing to do.

Arcade Fire, wait no, Jack White, er... maybe Royal Blood?
Gonna be honest with you, besides those other two, I flip-flop a lot. I'll listen to one song or artist to the point of insanity, then I won't listen to it again for a solid month or two. Eventually they settle in, but it's a process. To illustrate my point, the above photo is of The Shins, a completely different group than the ones in the title.
